Stop and Jots Updated
This year I've streamlined the stop and jots. Once again you’ll read three books a quarter, but you will now be required to complete 15 stop and jot entries per book. That means you’ll complete 45 entries per quarter.
Below I’ve included samples of what your table of contents, book logs, and entries should look like.
TABLE OF CONTENTS
1. The numbers on the far left side refer to the quarter and book number.
For instance 1.2 means first quarter second book.
2. Book Log: Title
Note: 4.3 is on the back page of my table of contents since it could not fit on the front
page.
3. Points: 5 pts for correct format per book entry, which will be assessed when outside
reading book is completed

Basics Reviewed
1. Need 15 pages (entries) per book
2. Must include 5 points per page

Page Format Explained
1. The number in the top left hand corner refers to the entry number.
For example: This is my 15th entry for that book.

3. Since there are quite a few books, which don't have chapter numbers you may divide your entries by either page or chapter numbers.
Basic Responses Includes
1. Your reaction to the book 2. Questions
3. Predictions 4. Inferences
4. Connections
Say More Includes
1. Your explanation for your thinking
2. Evidence from the text to support your thinking

Points: 3 points per page.
-1 point for your basic responses
-1 point for your say more
-1 point for correct format
Due Dates: This year your stop and jot entries and book synopsis sheet will be due on the same day. Just like last year, each period will be assigned a different day of the week to turn in their outside reading assignment. Therefore, I will post the week that each book will be due rather than a specific day.
